Checking a Rego
Open the right state's official registration check with the plate already copied.

Anywhere TowConnect shows a towed vehicle's plate, Check rego copies that plate and opens the state's official registration-check page in a new tab. You pick the state, paste, and read the answer on the government's own site. It saves the part everyone hates: finding the right page.
What actually happens
- TowConnect copies the plate to your clipboard.
- A new tab opens on the official check page for the state you chose.
- You accept that site's terms and paste the plate. Some states also ask you to prove you are not a robot.
Good to know
TowConnect does not run the check and does not store anything from it. The check happens on the government site, under their terms, in your browser. We never see the result.
Which page you get
One official page per state and territory - New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory. Never a commercial rego or vehicle-history site.
The state box starts on your workspace's usual state (on a stored vehicle, on the plate state recorded at intake) and you can change it before you go. Interstate tows are normal work, so nothing is locked - if the box is empty, pick the state the plate is from.
Putting the details back on the job
Most states show the vehicle's make, model, colour and year alongside the expiry. Those are worth typing back onto the job or storage record while you have them - a complete vehicle description is what makes your statutory registers and your invoices read properly later.
Check
A check tells you about the registration, not the owner. None of these pages give out owner details, and none of them is a substitute for the towing authorisation your job still needs.
If something does not work
- The button is greyed out - the record has no rego yet, or no state is chosen. Add the plate, or pick a state.
- Nothing opened - your browser blocked the new tab. Allow pop-ups for TowConnect and press it again.
- The plate did not paste - your browser refused clipboard access; TowConnect will say so, and you can type the plate shown in the message.
- The government page says the plate is unknown - each state only knows its own vehicles. Check the state box matches the plate.
