Statutory Registers (NSW)
Fair Trading's approved register forms, produced from your jobs automatically - pages, weekly printing, and inspections.

NSW law requires towing licensees to keep records in the approved form: the Tow Truck Usage Log (accident work, s60 of the Tow Truck Industry Act 1998), the Non-accident Towing Record (clause 81 of the Regulation 2020), the Approved Holding Yard Register (clause 41) and the Tow Truck Driver Register. TowConnect produces all four from the work you already record - open Jobs → Registers.
Good to know
Keep the Tow Truck Usage Log, the Non-accident Towing Record and the Tow Truck Driver Register at your place of business for at least 5 years. The Approved Holding Yard Register may be kept electronically - its conditions say so explicitly - but hard copies must be printed weekly and stored at your place of business.
How the pages work
Each truck has its own Usage Log and Non-accident Record for each year, and each holding yard has its own register - exactly like the paper books. Every entry gets a permanent position, so page numbers never change: if an inspector asks about a job from 24 July, pick the date and TowConnect hands you that exact statutory page, same page number every time. Entries that are later cancelled or moved to another truck stay visible as struck-out void slots, the way ruled-out ink would.
- Statutory pages need one truck (or yard) and a year selected - that is what the law defines as a register.
- All trucks / all yards views are watermarked previews for your own eyes, not for inspectors.
- Dates snap to whole pages - an inspector receives complete pages, never fragments.
The weekly print pack
The Print pack button on the Registers page builds one PDF of every Usage Log, Non-accident Record and holding-yard register page touched in your chosen dates (it defaults to last week), with a cover sheet listing what's inside. Print it, file it - that's the holding-yard register's weekly hard-copy duty done in one click.
You don't even have to remember it: switch on the Weekly pack email on the Registers page and every Monday the same pack lands in your inbox as a PDF (it goes to your business email unless you point it elsewhere). Print the attachment and the week is filed.
What to capture on jobs
- Towing authority number - required on accident work.
- Passenger carried - anyone riding in the truck goes in the Usage Log.
- VIN / engine no. - identifies unregistered vehicles in the registers.
- Released to + contact at storage release - fills the yard register's release authorisation.
Check
Keep your Operator Licence Number set in Settings → General - it prints in every register header, and the yard register's operator-licence column uses it.
